Date: 2/28/2017 10:30am-12:00pm
Event Location: Online

You are invited to learn about local public grants that help pay the cost of cleaning up contaminated sites often known as brownfields. Brownfield properties often are close to a high-quality workforce, good transportation, and transit. We are interested in helping redevelopment that will yield jobs, increased local tax base, and leverage private investment while avoiding costly new public infrastructure.

In the Minnesota metropolitan area, four key entities provide funding to remediate contaminated sites: Hennepin County, Ramsey County, the Metropolitan Council and the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). Applications for the next competitive grant are due May 1.

Who is eligible to apply for funding?
Cities, Counties, EDAs, HRAs and Port Authorities. (Private organizations redeveloping real estate sites held back by the costs of dealing with contamination are encouraged to work with applicants to apply.)

Over $8M in grant funds (and low-cost loans) will be available to investigate and clean up sites with:

  • Petroleum Contamination
  • Groundwater Contamination
  • Soil Contamination
  • Asbestos and Hazardous Materials
