This course provides intensive training in the basic concepts, methods and strategies of local economic development. It is designed for those new to the field, as well as those seeking to deepen their knowledge and skills. A diverse and experienced faculty provide a blend of theory and practice during the five-day course.

The course is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Graduation from the BEDC fulfills one of the prerequisites for those who wish to pursue the Certified Economic Developer designation (CEcD) through lEDC.

Cost & Scholarships

$500, includes Introduction to Economic Development, published by International Economic Development Council.

A limited number of scholarships will be available for Minnesota residents. Scholarship applications are due Thursday, May 30, and recipients will be notified by June 10. If a student registers and is unable to attend due to the lack of a scholarship, they will receive a refund for their tuition.

Course Location & Hotel

Great River Energy Campus

Participants will enjoy the comfortable, light-filled spaces at Great River Energy’s LEED Platinum Certified Corporate headquarters.

Hotel: Book a special $140/night rate at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites (11801 Fountains Way N, Maple Grove, MN 55369). A hotel shuttle is available daily between the hotel and Great River Energy; participants may also choose a 5-10 minute walk.
