This position involves a high degree of responsibility and technical competency within a professional framework both in the office and field including coordinating Code provisions with requirements of other city departments, supervising the timely and competent performance of all building and trade inspections, and verifying Code compliance of buildings during constructions, as well as of existing buildings. The Executive Director for Gun Barrel City EDC has responsibilities in the areas of administration, communications, marketing, project development, and Board relations. This position is responsible for leading and managing the organization, developing long-range and strategic plans, preparing the annual budget, and managing the EDC’s finances. The Executive Director also provides insights into economic development to the public and maintains visibility in the community. They are the official spokesperson for the EDC and responsible for making presentations to community groups and communicating Board activities to City Council.
The successful candidate will know Texas economic development laws, tools, and incentives and have a strong skill set and strategies necessary to develop an economic development plan for Gun Barrel City. Demonstrated experience with corporate human resources, large and small economic development projects, and working in a weekend tourist-based community is highly desired.
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, marketing, planning, or closely associated field of study from an accredited college or university with at least two years of experience as an Executive Director. Eight years of experience as an Executive Director or military experience with three years of experience in Economic Development will be considered instead of a degree.
The annual salary for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 a year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Mid-Minnesota Development Commission (MMDC) is a regional development organization that serves stakeholders and residents of the four Minnesota counties of Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, and Renville. MMDC is currently seeking a full-time Community Planner with the skills necessary to provide technical assistance to local units of government, while leading MMDC’s ordinance, comprehensive planning, and other project-focused work. This Community Planner will also promote MMDC services throughout the region and may participate in grant-writing or other activities that support improved quality of life for our stakeholders.

The right applicant will have extensive knowledge of current planning and zoning regulations and practices. They will have thorough knowledge of community planning principles and be comfortable facilitating small and large group meetings, including public hearings, with a wide variety of people and personalities. Technical planning experience, including experience working on ordinance and/or comprehensive planning projects, or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning, urban studies, public administration, or a closely-related field, from an accredited institution, is necessary for consideration.
