2026 Legislative Session - Week 7

April 7, 2026

The legislature was on their Easter/Passover break last week and is set to reconvene on April 7. When the legislature returns, the Senate is planning to take up a package of ICE-related proposals as well as gun-control provisions. Don’t expect the House to do the same. Lawmakers will also begin working on appropriation bills as they have given themselves a deadline of April 17 to get major appropriation and finance bills through the House and Senate committees. The legislature has a mandated adjournment date of May 18 for the 2026 legislative session.
