How long have you been a member of EDAM? 1 year

What do you find valuable about belonging to EDAM?
Making connections and networking, and learning about all the great economic development happening in Minnesota.

What is something you're passionate about or a hobby you really enjoy?
Anything outdoors - hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking. I love living in Northern Minnesota for the green space and fresh air.

Share an interesting fact about yourself that few of your fellow EDAM members may know.
I play the ukulele in a strumming group twice a month. My theory is that everyone plays the ukulele, they just don't know it yet.

What's the greatest advice a mentor has given you?
Maybe not a personal mentor, but I am always moved by the following quote from Maya Angelou, "Do your best until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."

Who inspires you or who would you consider to be your hero? Why?
I am continually inspired by the people I work with, both at Northspan and in the communities we serve.

What's your favorite place in the world? If different, what is your happy place?
Chester Park in Duluth - it's my favorite 'urban' hiking spot.

What was the best concert you've ever attended? What's a bucket list concert for you?
I happened to be in Nashville attending a conference one summer and scored tickets for an outdoor concert featuring Kenny Rogers. Listening to 'The Gambler' live on a perfect summer evening was really fun - it used to be my favorite song as a kid!

Other than your current job, what would your dream job be?
Anything in community organizing or development. I love bringing people together for shared experiences and events.

When your name is called for karaoke, what song do you pick?
Me and Bobby McGee, the Janis Joplin version.

Do you collect anything?
Nope! Not a collector.

What's the most recent book you read? Would you recommend it?
I'm currently reading The Earned Life by Marshall Goldsmith. Yes! I would recommend it.

What are you currently streaming? I
'm currently re-watching Parks & Rec (for the millionth time!) I find that at the end of the day, my brain just wants something comfortable and familiar.

Pop or soda? Hotdish or casserole? Duck, duck, gray duck or duck, duck, goose? Packers or Vikings? Crunchy or creamy? Sweet or salty?
Pop, Hotdish, Gray Duck, Packers, Crunchy, and salty.
